The code disc (grating disc) features evenly spaced rectangular apertures on a circular plate of a specific diameter. As the photoelectric code disc is coaxial with the motor, it rotates at the same speed as the motor. A detection device composed of electronic components such as LEDs detects and outputs multiple pulse signals. By counting the number of pulses per second from the photoelectric encoder, the current speed of the motor can be determined.
